AN OPPORTUNITY TO PUBLISH YOUR SHORT STORY OR POEM ON THE THEME OF LIGHT IN OUR COLLECTION
What is an Anthology?
An anthology is a collection of writing. In this case, it will be a collection of poems and short stories, written by writers from around the world, on the theme of light.
What's in it for you?
Your poem or short story will be included in our fourth anthology, which will be available for purchase as a print book.
You will be able to purchase a discounted copy of the anthology.
Advertisement, distribution, and promotion through The Soap Box website and social media profiles.
An invitation to do a reading of your work at our launch party in Toronto.
What are the guidelines?
You may submit up to three pieces in one entry. Please submit each piece as a separate file in both pdf and Word format.
Times New Roman or Cambria 12pt font.
Your name should not appear anywhere in your submission.
Poems should be single spaced, one poem per page.
Short stories should be double spaced.
Maximum length for short stories is 1000 words - anything longer will be disqualified.
Maximum of 90 lines per poem.
All submissions must be previously unpublished (personal blogs and websites are okay - the piece being published in another magazine, books, collection, blog, etc. is not).
Submissions are open to all writers, but preference is given to Canadian writers.
Pieces must be about the theme "Light."
Helpful tip: avoid repeated use of the word "light". Good writing about a theme doesn't require the use of the word.
Provide a short bio telling us about yourself (70 words max.) in the available space in the submission.
Be creative, show us something new, and most importantly, have fun!
Who can submit?
Anyone from anywhere! We can’t wait to hear from voices from around the globe. Multiple authors are welcome, as long as the poems have not been previously published.

Every poem should be single spaced and use a 12 pt Times New Roman or Calibri font. Please make sure your submission file is both .doc and .pdf.
When will I know if my submission has been accepted?
Mid to late March 2019.
Our open call will run from January 7 to February 15 at 11:59pm EST.
